Conference Theme

April 29-30, 2014 — Redondo Beach, CA

Increasingly, technology has become deeply, if not totally embedded in each of our lives. You are most likely reading this text on a computer or mobile device, with at least one other high-tech gizmo sitting nearby that probably didn't even exist five years ago. But while next year's common core assessments, if not all assessments, will soon be computer-based, we have yet to truly transform technology, games and assessment into vehicles for trustworthy academic achievement, for both students and adults. That's about to change.

For the past five years, CRESST's Center for Advanced Technology in Schools (CATS), in partnership with many other leading technology scholars, has conducted experimental research into how games and technology can be integrated into improved learning. We don't posit to have all the answers, but we are confident that we have vital knowledge to share at a small, personal conference. Consequently, from April 29-30 in a relaxed, beautiful setting, we share what CATS, CRESST, and others have learned about technology for learning, and discover from you what we yet need to explore.

The Center for Advanced Technology in Schools (CATS) is funded by the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education.
