DISCUSSION
Results indicated that using a dichotomous factor analytic approach can assist in estimating the reliability of the scales and permit scale revision in much the same way as item-total correlations function for continuous independent measures.
Compared with more traditional measures (e.g., item-total correlations) dichotomous factor analysis results in very similar scale construction decisions.
However, it may be more appropriate to use dichotomous factor analysis due to the distribution of our messages.
