Higher Education

Many CRESST projects overlap with the field of higher education, especially those that support teacher capacity building programs as well as adult learning. This area of our work will continue to grow as the need to measure postsecondary instructional quality and services expands.

CRESST is developing and pilot testing a coordinated set of Teacher Education Surveys for use in the University of California (UC) teacher education programs. The surveys are designed for summative and formative purposes. Summatively, the survey results will be used as indicators of program effectiveness for educators, potential UC applicants, and the larger higher education community, as well as in accreditation activities. Formatively, the survey results will be used to identify UC teacher education program strengths and weaknesses, and to track improvement. Findings from the surveys can also be used to extend the professional research base about the effectiveness of teacher training plus teacher educational and career development trajectories.
