Biography/Research
Dr. Jia Wang recently returned to the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing at UCLA. Prior to that, she was the vice president of research at a non-for profit educational consulting firm and was a statistics analyst at UCLAs Civil Rights Project. Her research interests emphasize applied educational measurement by: designing and managing research studies to evaluate the effectiveness of multi-site intervention programs; investigating how school, teacher, and student factors affect student achievement; and developing, validating, and evaluating assessment systems.
Dr. Wang has published regularly in professional journals and authored various technical reports and book chapters. She is a member of the editorial board for Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, Educational Assessment, and Social Science and Medicine. Dr. Wang also teaches graduate-level research and statistics courses at UCLA, including Survey Research, Experimental Design, and Linear Statistical Models. She received her PhD from UCLAs Graduate School of Education and Information Studies with a specialization in Social Research Methodology.
