Biography/Research

Ronald Dietel is the assistant director for research use and communications at UCLA's National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing. From December 2001 to December 2005, Dietel was a member of the La Cañada (California) Unified School District Governing Board. He is the author of Get Smart! Nine Sure Ways to Help Your Child Succeed in School, Wiley/Jossey Bass, 2006 and The Perfect Test, Sense Publishers, 2011. Among other publications, he is the author of Goodbye to the Number 2 Pencil published by Kappa Delta Pi Record in 2012 and Testing to the Top: Everything But the Kitchen Sink published in the May 2011 issue of Kappan Magazine. 

Dietel has written and directed a number of video programs on educational testing, including Assessment Models, which was a finalist for the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Association of Educational Publishers. Three of the films he has written have received CINE Golden Eagle awards. His latest video, About CRESST, may viewed here
