Biography/Research
Noreen Webb is professor of research methods and educational psychology in the UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies. Interested in learning and instruction and measurement theory and applications, Dr. Webb is co-author, with Richard Shavelson, of a book about generalizability theory. Her current research focuses on the measurement of learning processes and performance of individuals and groups in classroom settings. Dr. Webb has served as principal investigator on a grant from the National Science Foundation to study collaborative problem-solving processes and mathematics learning in different instructional programs based on cooperative learning. Her current CRESST work focuses on collaborative group assessment—understanding the wide variety of influences on group performance scores and investigating the validity of group assessment for drawing conclusions about the competence of individuals and groups.
