Denise Huang Shares Afterschool Knowledge with National Governors
Association
The National Governors Association (NGA) recently invited CRESST researcher
and afterschool expert Denise Huang to participate in a roundtable of best
afterschool practices and research. On June 28, 2011, Huang shared her
knowledge with the NGA Center for Best Practices to better inform state
policies related to afterschool programs.

Joan Herman and Pete Goldschmidt Share Teacher Evaluation Framework
Spurred by Race to the Top (RTTT) requirements, states are grappling with
how to incorporate measures of student growth into their teacher evaluation
systems. CRESST researchers Joan Herman and Pete Goldschmidt recently shared
a validation framework that states can use to gauge student growth in all
subject and specialty areas. Presentation available.

CRESST Expands in Medical Education and Training at Recent Conference
A broad group of experts shared their work at the "Designing and Using
Computer Simulations in Medical Education and Training" conference held
recently at UCLA. CRESST hosted the meeting that was sponsored by the
Office of Naval Research and the Army Telemedicine and Advanced Technology

Pete Goldschmidt Value-Added Presentation Available
CRESST senior researcher Pete Goldschmidt was the featured speaker at a webinar hosted by the Northwest Regional Comprehensive Center (NWRCC) at Education Northwest. He discussed value-added models, the pros and cons of their use, and the components necessary for a valid teacher evaluation system.
